Q. How do I qualify financially?
A. The estimated capital to open a Philly Dawgz Franchise is between $99,000 – 135,000. This estimate includes all calculated costs that you will incur until you open the first day. This number may vary due to construction and site location.
Q. What is the Philly Dawgz franchise fee?
A. The initial franchise fee for a single store is $30,000, at least fifty percent due and payable upon execution and delivery of the Location Franchise Agreement. The remaining portion is due upon store opening.
Q. What are Philly Dawgz continuing royalties/fees?
A. The royalty fee payable to Philly Dawgz is 3.5% of adjusted gross sales. Philly Dawgz also requires a 1% fee of gross sales that goes to the advertising fund of Philly Dawgz. As a franchise owner you are also required to spend 3% of gross sales on a regular basis to promote your business.
Q. Will Philly Dawgz provide financing?
A. No, we can however recommend some third party sources that have been developed for the benefit of our franchise owners.
Q. May I form a partnership to meet financing needed to open a Philly Dawgz Franchise?
A. Yes. The Franchise Agreement and/or the Operations Manual provides that your Philly Dawgz Restaurant must be under your direct, day to day, full time supervision or a partner of the corporation who is approved by PDFS. The owner or partnership must work a minimum of 25 hours a week in the store unless you have an approved replacement who has gone through the PDFS training program. You or your managing partner must use his or her best efforts in the operation of your Philly Dawgz restaurant. If you are a partnership each partner must personally guarantee the obligations under the Franchise Agreement, and also agree to be personally bound by, and personally liable for the breech of every provision of the Franchise Agreement.
Q. Is there an estimated amount of income I can expect to make when I open a Philly Dawgz franchise?
A. Federal Trade Commission regulations and the various states regulating franchise sales activities restrict our ability to provide you with estimated profit figures. Sales information and franchise lists are disclosed in our UFOC. You are welcome to contact any existing franchisee, to discuss such information with you.

A. A UFOC is a Uniform Franchise Offering Circular. The UFOC contains comprehensive and valuable information for franchisee candidates. We will ask that you read this document and return a signature page saying that you have read and received it. Once Philly Dawgz has received this we will move forward in the process of discussing the possibility of you becoming a
potential franchisee owner.

Q. Will Philly Dawgz assist in finding a store location?
A. Philly Dawgz will assist in you in finding a profitable store location. If the franchisee has already found a location, the location will need to be approved by Philly Dawgz.
Q. What is the best location for a Philly Dawgz store?
A. The ideal location for a Philly Dawgz restaurant is a busy strip center that has high traffic counts and store front visibility. The location should have approximately 50,000 households within a 3 mile radius. Other restaurant criteria include high foot traffic, excellent visibility, good parking access and affordable rent. A Philly Dawgz franchise store should have a minimum of 500 square feet of space if a dining room location is sought. If the location does not require a dining room, such as a food court space, then the square footage space can be as little as 350 square feet. The minimum width requirement of the space is 20 feet wide HVAC requirements are 1 ton per 400 square feet.
Q. Who negotiates the lease?
A. You will initially negotiate with your potential landlord. Philly Dawgz is able to assist you by reviewing and advising favorable lease arrangements. We recommend this as Philly Dawgz has experience in lease negotiation and significant savings can be realized for our franchise owners by doing this. All leases need to be reviewed and approved by Philly Dawgz before execution.

A. The Philly Dawgz development department will help you through the entire construction/equipping process, right down to making your first food order prior to your grand opening.

A. The construction phase of your build-out should begin as soon as possible upon the signing of your lease. Philly Dawgz provides a detailed time line of the construction process in our franchise owner’s manual. Each space may have different requirements for build-out and may vary from other locations. A good construction estimate for build-out for most chosen locations is approximately 8-10 weeks.

A. The estimated construction cost for a Philly Dawgz location will vary. An average estimate would be 5,000 to $20,000 in build-out costs. Not only is it important to find a good location but also a space that is easy to convert which will keep your build-out costs low.

A. Philly Dawgz has a one week training program at our corporate restaurant in St. Paul, MN. The training consists of history of Philly Dawgz, preparing menu items, product ordering, inventories, scheduling, sanitation practices, food specs and marketing tips. On top of the 7 days we spend during your Grand Opening we will have our Director of Operations on site to help you.
Q. Will I receive ongoing training after the opening of a Philly Dawgz store?
A. Yes, Philly Dawgz will be sending out monthly training tips to all franchisees. The training team will offer monthly updated courses through our corporate location.
